Autumn 2
Our Learning in Autumn 2
The pupils are all settled into their second half term of year 3!
As historians, we are learning about the Bronze Age and comparing it to what we have already learnt about the Stone Age. We will learn about how people lived, looking at the Celts, the Picts, the Beaker people, Queen Cartimandua and Queen Boudica.
Linked to this, in Art we will learn different printing techniques and design our own celtic patterns.
In Science we will be developing our previous knowledge of plants. In year 3 we will focus on the names and functions of the parts of plants and flowers. We are also learning about water transportation and seed dispersal. We will be carrying out many practical experiments in class and will be visiting Hulme Garden Centre for a taught session.
In Geography we will be learning about mountains around the world and focusing closely on the highest mountains in each UK country. We will also look at how vegetation, animals and humans affect mountains.
In Design Technology we are learning how to knit and will make a winter scarf for a character in our English text.
Year 3 music lessons provide a range of opportunities rotated throughout the year. 3AN are continuing with the Manchester Sing training and will be performing in Manchester Cathedral, 3SB are exploring different Christmas songs from around the world and 3SH are continuing with African drumming.
