Our Learning in Summer 2

This half term in Reception, our overarching theme is 'Our Universe' and our topic is 'Space'. We have found this so interesting and learnt so many new facts! Our first text we looked at was  'You Choose Space' by Nick Sharratt which inspired our Literacy sessions and we designed our own planets. We then moved onto to look at 'We are Here' by Oliver Jeffers and we wrote letters to aliens telling them all about the things they can do on earth. Finally we looked 'The Way Back Home' another fantastic Oliver Jeffers book, this inspired us to draw a map of space to help the alien get back home. It meant we could apply our knowledge of the planets through our space song. Have a little listen!

As part of our Space learning we were very lucky to have the Wonderdome come to school in which we were able to look at our universe and learn some amazing facts!

In Maths, we have been looking at quantity and recapping our number bonds ready for Year 1!

In PSE, we have started to look at transition and thinking about year 1- we have been setting ourselves goals and have been discussing confidence, perseverance, resilience and independence.

We have also been on a Teddy Bear's picnic in Alexandra Park, taken part in Sport's Day and celebrate Eid!
